Security requirements


Busselton Margaret River Airport is a security controlled airport.  Under the Aviation Transport Security Act Regulations, users must have an operational need to be airside (in the aircraft operating areas) at BMRA. Anyone who requires unescorted access to these areas at BMRA must comply with the requirements for background checks as per the regulations and must be wearing a valid Aviation Security Identification (ASIC) Card or Visitor Identification Card (VIC)

Busselton Margaret River Airport works closely with all on-site partners to ensure a safe, efficient and lawful operating environment. If you’re an airline, ground handler, or service provider, it’s important that you and your staff are familiar with the following compliance areas:

  • Access control and ID requirements (ASIC, VIC)
  • Airside driving rules (as outlined in the Airside Vehicle Control Handbook)
  • Conditions of Use for operating within the airport precinct
  • Security and safety protocols, including screening and behaviour expectations
